About Yaya Tea Newark
Yaya Tea is a cafΓ© specializing in freshly brewed tea through a purifier filtration system where premium tea leaves are brewed fresh daily. We take bubble tea to another level by adding various jellies or popping boba into our drinks that burst in your mouth. We serve unique imported snacks as well, mostly from Japan! We stand out amongst our competitors by serving handmade Onigiri, also known as a Riceball, which are only made to order. Onigiri is a popular Japanese snack that is convenient, handheld and delicious! It is served with our special Nori wrapping, also known as dried seaweed, which stays separate from the Riceball to remain crispy until it is ready to be eaten!

I love going there β€οΈπ― The food is great. The people who are at the cash register are super nice and pleasent. My fave is the Rice ball Shrimp Tempura with Crab meat. I pair it with I love Yaya tea and strawberry pop as a topping. I Recommend coming to dine in or ordering it in. ππΏπ

Dined in with a group of friends for boba but was pleasantly surprised at the food selection offered at this store. I ordered a large Okinawa Milk Tea, Shrimp Tempura Udon, and a small Yaya Shrimp (fried shrimp and seaweed) rice ball which totaled around $28. The Okinawa Milk Tea was deliciously sweet, creamy and light with the brown sugar taste. The udon soup along with the noodles were a little plain, however, the shrimp tempuras were crunchy and flavorful. As someone who has never tried a rice ball before, the Yaya Shrimp rice ball tasted succulent and savory and I would definitely order that option along with others if I were to visit again. There was no wait for a table booth that was able to fit our group, we all ate good and a bonus to the staff behind the counter who were both friendly and funny.

I was quite unhappy with the quality and preparation of my jumbo shrimp tempura onigiri yesterday. It is one of the more costly items, so you would expect it to be worth the money, however the flavor and overall quality was disappointing. The rice was overcooked and mushy (you can tell just by the picture there is no definition of the rice just a mushed ball), and the shrimp tempura smelled fishy, despite the fact that shrimp is the least fishy tasting shellfish. Plus frying it in batter should make it taste even less fishy. I ended up tossing it since it severely lacked in flavor and was simply unappetizing.

On the Fourth of July, I was craving bubble tea. Luckily Yaya Tea was open. First time here at this location. Parking was easy. There is meter parking on Central Ave. Once inside, I ordered a large taro milk tea. The boba would have been extra charge. My drink was made quickly since it was empty inside. I got the narrow straw since I didn't have any toppings added to my drink. Unfortunately the straw could not puncture the top of the drink. It ended up breaking. The taro itself was good. Nothing spectacular about it but good enough. The price was reasonable. 5.95 ($6.34 after tax). Typical price you would pay at other bubble tea places in north Jersey. The staff were not memorable. One took my order and one made it.
